Sample Ceremony
Vows of Marriage
Minister : Have you come here in freedom and with the intention of
giving your self in marriage to
(Bride - Groom)? Each replies yes.
Since you have assured one another,
and all of us, of your freedom to marry and your intention to marry,
I ask you to repeat after me, your vows.
I __________, take you __________, to
be my (wife / husband).
I promise to be true to you in good times and in difficult, in sickness
and in health.
I will love you, and respect you, and care for you, for as long as we both
shall live.
Ring Ceremony
__________, I assure you of my love. I invite you to share my life,
as I hope to share yours.
I promise to recognize you, as an individual, to be aware of your growth
as a person.
May this ring be a symbol of our love.
Or, __________, Accept this ring and
wear it as a symbol of my love and affection.
Note: With regard to both
the vows and the rings, the Bride and Groom may repeat the words,
phrase by phrase, following the minister.
Or the minister can phrase the words in the form of a questions to which
each will answer, "Yes", or "I do".
The Bride and Groom may also write
their personal versions of ceremonies.
Prayer
Everyone is invited to reflect quietly. The minister then adds a
vocal prayer.
Or there can be a conclusion with no prayer at all.
Conclusion
A brief summary leading to: "By reason of the authority vested in me
by the State of California,
and in accordance with it's laws, it is my privilege to say that you are
now husband and wife.
The Bride and Groom are invited to
kiss, after which the minister presents them as,
"Mr. & Mrs., or in a number of other ways as preferred by the Bride and
Groom.
